The Black Dragonfish Resurfaces: Now Sharper, Brighter, and Bolder Than Ever
When we first introduced the Black Dragonfish in 2023, it quickly became one of the most intriguing pieces in our Musou Black series — a GMT watch inspired by a deep-sea predator that thrives where light cannot survive. Today, the Dragonfish resurfaces with new upgrades that make it even more capable above sea level, while preserving the mysterious darkness that defines its character.
A Clearer View Into the Abyss
One of the biggest updates lies right at the surface:
We’ve swapped the original crystal for a flat sapphire crystal to dramatically reduce lens distortion and glare. The result? A clearer, more direct window into the Superkuro Musou Black dial — a surface that absorbs 99.4% of visible light and turns the display into a near-bottomless void. With the reduced reflection, the dial’s depth and darkness present themselves more honestly than ever.
You’re now looking straight into the abyss, without the light getting in the way.
Enhanced Lume for True 24-Hour Readability
While the earlier Dragonfish embraced its “no indexes” mystique, many collectors asked for more functionality in low-light conditions. We listened.
The updated Black Dragonfish now features lume markers on the chapter ring, carefully arranged to maintain the watch’s stealthy aesthetic while improving practical nighttime visibility.
Better yet, the lume colours are deliberately matched to their functions:
-
BGW9 lume for the hour and minute markers, complementing the primary hands
-
C3 lume for the 24-hour markers, pairing perfectly with the GMT hand
This dual-colour approach offers instant clarity in the dark — you immediately know which scale your eyes are reading, and which hand belongs to which timezone. It’s a purposeful upgrade inspired by the dragonfish’s own bioluminescent hunting cues.
A Predator Re-Engineered
The rest of the watch retains everything collectors loved about the original release:
-
The raven-black DLC-coated 40mm titanium case
-
The Miyota 9075 “flyer” GMT movement with a jumping local hour hand
-
Parashock protection for real-world knocks
-
30ATM of water resistance for ocean-ready exploration
The Dragonfish remains a creature built for adventure — now with improved clarity and night-time utility to match its ultra-black design.
A Quick Look Back: The Origin of the Dragonfish
When the Black Dragonfish first launched in March 2023, it was the third watch in our Musou Black series and one of our darkest creations ever. Inspired by the deep-sea predator Stomiidae, the watch reflected the creature’s elite survival traits: stealth, bioluminescent hunting, and scales so dark they swallow light.
“As adventurers at heart, we wanted to explore what a true ‘ultra-black’ tool watch could be,” Leon shared at the time.
“The dragonfish’s mysterious presence in the deep sea felt like the perfect spirit animal for this piece.”
That philosophy remains unchanged — only now refined through feedback, field use, and our continued obsession with detail.
Sharper. Brighter. Even Darker.
This refreshed Black Dragonfish is not a redesign — it’s an evolution.
A second breath for a deep-sea predator that refuses to stay hidden.
If the original model was about exploring darkness, this updated version is about seeing more through that darkness — with clarity, precision, and a glow that guides the way.
The Black Dragonfish has returned. And it’s ready to hunt again.
