Expedition I Karakum
This fiery Expedition is named after Turkmenistan’s famed Karakum desert, home to the Darvaza crater, or the “Gates of Hell”. The massive man-made sinkhole has been leaking methane gas for decades, showing no signs of burning out anytime soon. Karakum Desert is also known by Gara Gum (“Black Sand”), and it occupies around 70 percent of Turkmenistan, extending some 500 miles (800 km) from west to east and 300 miles (500 km) from north to south. Did you know that fruit is grown in some areas of the desert? The nature of its multiple interdune depressions (takyr) form thick clay deposits, which act as catchment basins for its scarce moisture - thus allowing fruits such as melons and grapes to grow in its mineral-rich soil.
The Expedition I Karakum is built to outlast such challenging terrains, so strap yours on and gear up to get back on trek.

Customer service good
The replacement watch head is running + 3 seconds per day. A good result and a save by customer service. The first Sellita 200-1 movement was misaligned and stopping after 4 min 28 secs every time. But HY at Boldr sent a replacement watch head from Singapore to exchange for the defective one. I appreciate the watch among the collection. It looks best for me on a thick Horween strap from Boldr, with a very reasonable $29 price. Relieved that I bought direct from the Boldr site, due to a defective Swiss movement.
I purchased the Expedition II when it came out. It’s a great watch - rugged looking and feeling - and I’ve enjoyed it. However, I had regretted not buying the Expedition I. I preferred the more traditional round case, hands and crowns to the more modern, industrial look of the II. When I saw the new Expedition I I decided to buy it. I thought it looked great in the photos - it looks so much better in person. I wasn’t sure I’d like the crosshairs on the face - they actually really enhance the look. The finish of the case is perfect. It’s fantastic - looks great, feels solid. As with the Expedition II, I use the timing bezel often. I ordered it with the bracelet, the black rubber strap, and the black canvas strap. All are high quality. I think it looks best on the black rubber, which is both soft and sturdy - very high quality. I like the bracelet as well to dress it up a bit. I’m very happy with my purchase! A few wishes for the next version: Make the “N” and/or the “60” mark on the bezel orange or replace with a triangle - something to make the timing start point more visible; add lume to the bezel (the Exp II has that - not important, just looks cool); add drilled lugs to make strap changes easier. Great job and I am very happy with my purchase!
Glad Boldr brought this classic back!
Amazing piece, very glad Boldr brought this piece back!
The best field watch is finally back!
Absolutely love this watch and am so glad that Boldr brought back the overall look and functions of the first version of the Expedition especially as I couldn’t get my hands on that one in the past. The watch wears great, neither too big nor to small (my wrist is about 19cm) and a perfect weight to recognise the watch on your wrist without the feel of a burden that pulls down your arm. The movement is super accurate so far and didn’t fail me even when putting down the watch for a day. I am wearing the watch on a daily basis and am super pleased with how good it matches with any look really, from chinos and Shirt to jeans and T-Shirt. The fact that both crowns are screw down and that the watch is waterproof to 200m encourages me even more to use it as my daily driver. I will probably never take it out for a dive or even snorkelling but it still makes me feel good to know it would not be damaged by a few splashes of water or an unintentional drop into a pool. :-D Saphire crystal on front and back and the brushed steel of the watch make it almost irresistible to scratches but the future will tell! Thanks to BOLDR for that product - very well done!
I’m not a watch collector but I wanted to own at least one watch. I knew I wanted a field watch. After looking at a few other brands that are known for their field watches, I decided to pull the trigger on this watch. It’s a great looking watch with all the specs I was looking for. I had a hard time choosing which color to go with as all three options were stunning.
